Video shows dozens of people looting 76 gas stations on Hegenberger near San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — An Oakland gas station manager vented his anger and frustration Friday after dozens of people ransacked his business overnight. And if that wasn’t bad enough, he said the police didn’t show up after he called for help.

It happened at The 76 Station on Hegenberger Road, just off Interstate 880, near the airport.

EXCLUSIVE: Video shows dozens of thieves looting an Oakland store, stealing $100,000 worth of merchandise

It all started around 4:30am, when a group of people visiting a nearby fair entered and began looting the place.

Station manager Sam Mardaie estimates that 80 to 100 people attended. They were apparently unhappy about not being allowed in and being served only at the ticket window, which is normal at that time of night.

Mardaie estimates the total damage and theft to be more than $100,000.

We reached out to Oakland police for comment on Mardaie’s claims about the response, but have not yet received a response.

This is just the latest in a series of problems on the Hegenberger corridor.

On Wednesday, police responded en masse to reports of a shooting at Chevron. SKY7 was on the scene and saw a car with its rear window blown out.

And of course, this is the same area where an In-N-Out closed in March due to persistent crime — a first for the popular chain.
