Later, with the addition of a CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth) instrument, the researchers were finally able to revisit Taam Ja’e. This time, the instrument recorded the depth of the blue hole at 1,377 feet below sea level, but surprisingly, the end was still not in sight.
While this expedition has confirmed Taam Ja’ as the deepest blue hole ever discovered, much work remains to be done to reveal the full extent of the structure.
This may be a much more difficult task than initially thought. Measurements from Taam Ja’ show that the water conditions are very similar to those of blue holes in the Caribbean Sea, all of which are connected to intricate cave systems.
