A popular New Jersey sandwich shop, once visited by President Barack Obama, has closed one of its locations.
Tastee Sub Shop closed its Lawrence Township location on Wednesday after more than 12 years in business, an employee confirmed to NJ Advance Media.
When NJ Advance Media contacted employees on Wednesday, they would not disclose a reason for the closure.
The sub shop started in Edison in 1963 and later opened locations in Lawrence Township and Franklin Park. President Obama visited the chain’s flagship location in Edison in 2010 to meet with owners of four New Jersey small businesses to discuss a proposed tax credit.
Obama ordered a half-size “Super Sub,” a monstrous sandwich with pressed ham, cooked ham, salami, capsicum, prosciutto and cheese. Not surprisingly, business at Tastee Sub Shop spiked after Obama’s visit.
The Tastee Shop menu features 16 different sandwiches, served in half (8-inch) or whole (16-inch) sizes, featuring turkey, pepperoni, roast beef, tuna, sausage, meatballs, sausage and more.
The Edison and Franklin Park locations will remain open.
