Firefly Aerospace Launches Alpha Rocket, Lights Up Southern California Skies – Video

VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. (KABC) — Southern California got a glimpse of another rocket launch lighting up the night sky.

Firefly Aerospace launched its Alpha rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base just after 9 p.m. Wednesday. The launch created a long, bright plume that swept across the region for many to see.

Firefly’s “Noise of Summer” mission had previously been scheduled for launch on Monday and Tuesday, but both dates were postponed.

The mission carried a class of small satellites called CubeSats, developed by universities and nonprofit organizations through NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative.

Recently, Southern California saw several stunning skies thanks to rocket launches from SpaceX.
