Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made a name for himself as a workaholic. He’s also known for mocking those he disagrees with. Both of these habits came to X on Independence Day, when Elon Musk shared a remarkable update from Giga Texas before disparaging a fellow CEO.
During Independence Day celebrations a few days ago, Elon Musk posted a short video update on the upcoming Giga Texas supercomputing cluster. Drone footage of Giga Texas taken by longtime Tesla watchers indicates that the Southend expansion, which will house a “super dense, water-cooled supercomputing cluster,” is progressing well.
As Musk noted in his update, Tesla is just wrapping up construction of the Giga Texas supercomputing cluster. He also noted that the electric vehicle manufacturer would try to bring the supercomputing cluster online in the coming months. The cluster is expected to further accelerate Tesla’s FSD efforts, which is crucial for the rollout of the company’s dedicated Robotaxi, which is set to be unveiled on August 8, 2024.
While Musk was busy working on his Giga Texas update during Independence Day, he also took the time to poke fun at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg, who posted a video of himself wakeboarding, drinking beer, and holding up an American flag in a suit and sunglasses to celebrate the 4th of July. Zuckerburg’s video went viral, with social media users noting that it made the Meta CEO look very nice and cool.
Elon Musk, for his part, threw some criticism at Zuckerberg. In a response to X, Musk noted that he would rather work. “May he continue to have fun on his yachts. I’d rather work,” Musk wrote. Musk’s response was met with polarizing reactions from social media users, with some taking it as yet another dig at Zuckerberg and others claiming it showed Musk was jealous of the Meta CEO.
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have been slinging criticism at each other for years, and last year it even seemed like a full-blown MMA fight between the two CEOs was about to take place. Musk has been critical of Zuckerberg’s rosy AI vision, and the Meta CEO has been critical of Neuralink’s efforts, stating in August 2022 that the brain implants being developed by the startup won’t be popular with “normal people.”
